Let me, ahead of 2 September’s 25th anniversary of Father Seraphim’s blessed repose, commend to your attention, the following interview of Hieromonk Damascene, Father Seraphim’s biographer, about Father Seraphim:
Father Seraphim Rose: Spiritual Father (mp3 link)

Would to God more people would follow Father Seraphim’s ways.
I once talked with George Jenkins, a man who lived near and knew Father Seraphim in Platina. He ate and talked with Father Seraphim. George was non-Orthodox. I asked him his opinion of Father Seraphim. He said Father Seraphim was “a hard boiled egg.”
Of course, you won’t find testimonies like this in any of the “official” biographies.
Fr. Seraphim Stated: We are told by the Holy Fathers that we are supposed to see in everything something for our salvation. If you can do this, you can be saved.”
MY RESPONSE: That’s not scriptural. God already told us how to be saved. A person can be saved even if he doesn’t see in everything something for our salvation. Who is Fr. Seraphim to ad to what has already been revealed about salvation? Seing in everything something for our salvation, is not in the Scriptures, or any of the canons of the ecumenical councils. The Holy Fathers (whoever said that) is entitied to their opinions, but they were not God. They don’t decide these things.
