An occasional record of one man's struggle for the salvation of his soul; or, the intersection of the Faith once for all delivered to the saints with the life of a man and a father.
The current issue of Touchstone has a review of a book on Junia the A/apostle which I commend to your attention: Junia Among the Apostles. It is among the most clear-minded accounts of the matter, couched in a book review, that I have read. (I reference a comment by Dr. William Tighe in this post, that is just as lucid.)
It’s ‘Junia’, and she’s a woman, the wife of Andronicus, one of the Seventy. They are commemorated together on May 17. As St. Paul himself says, in 1 Corinthians 9:5, Peter and the Brothers of the Lord had their wives colaboring with them in the Apostolate. Of course, Peter’s wife [Matthew 8:14] was not from among the Twelve, neither was St. Junia from among the Seventy.
The article ALMOST makes me wish I stayed in academia. Good stuff!
